New marina project planned for Croatia

A US-based developer and manager of marinas, Island Global Yachting (IGY), has announced it is to build two new marina projects in the town of Sibenik, Croatia and in Dubai, UAE.

The Port Marina Mandalina & Yacht Club in Croatia will be built in partnership with local developer Nautical Centre Prgin at a cost of €100million. According to IGY, the project will also contain a five-star hotel, residential apartments and villas and will be the first Croatian marina that can house 100 metre ‘mega-yachts’. Completion on the project is scheduled for 2009.

In Dubai, the Palm Jumeirah Mega Yacht Marina, the Emirate’s first to handle large capacity yachts, will also be developed by IGY in partnership with Nakheel and is to be located on the west side of Palm Jumeirah’s trunk, adjacent to the Trump International Hotel & Tower.

With an estimated value of $116million (AED425million), the marina will have 75 berths, 30 of which will be capable of accommodating yachts between 50-165m in length. The remaining 45 berths will accommodate yachts between 14-20m in length. Completion is expected by Q3 2009.

At the heart of the marina will be the clubhouse, a members’ only facility with other outstanding design features such as car access on to the pontoons and high level security.”
